Principals Report
Sue Carr
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of St Brendan’s,
Welcome back everyone after what I hope was a relaxing long weekend for you all.
I hope you and your family enjoyed the extended long weekend which provided our dedicated staff with an invaluable opportunity to engage in a pupil-free day focused on professional learning in Religious Education.
Throughout the day, our teachers gathered to deepen their knowledge of the principles of Catholic Social Teaching. They explored the story of St Patrick and looked at how his life and vocation mirrored many of these Catholic Social Teaching principles. The teachers also had time to plan together for Term Three. I am extremely thankful to our Religious Education leaders; Daniela Ruberto and Erica Hudson, who led the day in a highly engaging and supportive way. This meaningful time of reflection and professional development ensures that we continue to provide a rich, supportive and faith-filled learning environment for all students.

Our Learning Support Team, under the guidance of our speech pathologist, Amy Brook, studied two units of work where they learned more about supporting neuro-divergent learners in the classroom. The LSO team reported that their learning was extremely beneficial giving them greater knowledge and skills to support our neuro-divergent students.
I am so proud of the staff engagement and hard work in both sessions. I am grateful to lead such a wonderful team.
Our student-led Mini Vinnies team is officially launching our annual Winter Appeal, and they need your generous support to help local families in crisis.
This year, our leaders are collecting non-perishable grocery items such as tinned soup, tinned vegetables, tinned fruits, pasta sauce, stews, rice, pasta, breakfast cereal, tea, coffee, Milo, sugar and long life milk etc, toiletries, and disposable nappies to comfort those in genuine need during the coldest months.
To participate, your child can simply bring donations directly to their classroom and place them in the dedicated collection basket. Each morning, these items will hold a special place at the centre of the classroom prayer circle, allowing students to reflect on the impact of their kindness.
At the conclusion of the appeal on the last day of Term 2, our Mini Vinnies Leaders will personally pack the collected items into the cars of adult St Vincent de Paul volunteers for distribution. Thank you for empowering our young leaders and for showing incredible compassion to the vulnerable members of our community.
Get ready to glow! Our exciting "Neon and Glow" student discos are coming up on Thursday, 18 June, in the St Brendan’s multi-purpose room. Students are encouraged to dress in their brightest neon colours and glowing accessories for a fantastic night of music and fun.
The event is split into two sessions by year level:
Foundation to Year 2: 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm
Year 3 to Year 6: 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm
Entry is $10 per child, which includes a lolly bag and a glowstick to help light up the dance floor.
Please pre-pay by sending payment in a named envelope or bag to the office or pay at the door on the night.
For safety, an adult must sign all children in upon arrival.
Parents are very welcome to stay and join the fun.
Parents please note that our final assembly will be held in Week 10 on Monday 15th June at 2.30pm in the church.
Have a wonderful week.
Warm regards,
Sue Carr
