Reconciliation Week

Last Tuesday, our whole school came together for a Walk for Reconciliation as part of National Reconciliation Week.

With this year's theme, "All In," we reflected on what it means to actively support reconciliation and work together towards a more united future. Walking side by side, we acknowledged the importance of building respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians.

It was a meaningful opportunity to learn, listen and demonstrate our commitment to positive change. By being all in, we each have a role to play in building a future founded on respect, understanding and connection.

Visit from Philip 'Wild Man' Green

Our Junior School students were captivated by a special visit from Philip Green, renowned eco-science educator, National Geographic photographer, and presenter of the highly acclaimed Aboriginal Survival Technology program.

Drawing on decades of experience working with and learning from Indigenous communities across Australia and beyond, Philip shared fascinating insights into the traditional technologies used by Australia’s First Peoples. Students had the unique opportunity to explore museum-quality artefacts, examine traditional tools, and discover how native plants and wildlife were used for food, medicine, shelter, clothing, weapons, and art.

Through stunning photography, hands-on activities, and engaging storytelling, Philip brought history, culture, and environmental knowledge to life. His enthusiasm and expertise inspired curiosity, respect, and a deeper appreciation for the ingenuity and resilience of Aboriginal peoples.

Thank you, Philip, for providing such an enriching and memorable learning experience for our students.
