Winter Lightning Premiership

Last Friday, the year 5’s and 6’s competed in a winter lighting carnival against 7 other schools. Students left at 9 and came back tired at 3 after a full day of sport. Although none of the teams were successful in going through into the next level, we saw some outstanding performances, including the gold T-ball team making it into the grand final and sadly leaving as runners up. Even if our teams were losing, we still all showed great sportsmanship and tried our best to catch up.
From all 4 sports, these were the results:
AFL had 2 teams and won 4 out of the 10 games they played.
Netball had 4 teams and won 8 out of the 23 games they played
Soccer had 3 teams and won 10 out of the 19 games they played (plus one draw)
T-ball had 4 teams and won 7 out of the 13 games they played.
Overall, across all 4 sports, around 50 percent of the games were won, which is a great result considering most teams only had 2 or 3 training sessions. Well done to everyone who participated on the day and also good luck to our 8 division cross country runners who are competing this Wednesday.
A special thanks to all teachers who helped coach on the day along with parent support Ben Nelson, Aysylu Sadri and Candice Hall. Those who came to support or cheer on the day, we very much appreciated the support and I know the students loved having you there.
An extra thank you goes to Lyshae and Nick from Seda College for their help in umpiring Netball and AFL and to Lily Benavides and the Glen Eira football club for helping the district by lending their equipment at Lord Reserve for our soccer competition.
