Service-Learning Program

At Trinity College, the first-time boys are involved in a structured form of Christian Service is in the Junior School. These early experiences are carefully designed to support students as they step beyond their comfort zones and begin to understand the importance of giving to others. Guided by the example of dedicated staff and older students, our boys quickly learn that serving others, especially those in need, is not only meaningful, but deeply rewarding and joyful. In turn, these experiences help them grow into compassionate, thoughtful, and well-rounded Men for Others

This term, all Junior School students have actively engaged in our Service-Learning Program. Through these experiences, we aim to foster empathy, awareness, and a strong sense of responsibility for the wider community.

Our Year 4 students visited and supported Brother Olly’s Wheelchairs for Kids, gaining valuable insight into the power of service and teamwork. By spending time in the workshop with their classmates, each boy developed a deeper appreciation for the difference even small contributions can make in the lives of others.

Our Year 5 students participated in an incursion run by St Vincent de Paul (Vinnies). This experience encouraged them to better understand and support those experiencing hardship within the local community. One way they will put this learning into action is through our upcoming Junior School Pyjama Day fundraiser on Friday 26 June.

Earlier this term, our Year 6 students took part in an excursion to The Shopfront. Through this experience, they learned about outreach programs that provide hospitality and support to people experiencing homelessness and reflected on how they too can play a role in serving others with dignity and compassion.

As a whole Junior School, we have also supported a number of important initiatives, including Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion during Lent, the Fun Run for India on Edmund Rice Day, and the Archbishop’s LifeLink Appeal, with selected Junior School Prefects attending the official launch earlier this week.

Building on our learning from The Resilience Project and our Religious Education program, these service experiences plant the seeds of empathy, gratitude, and social awareness. By engaging in Service Learning from a young age, our boys come to understand that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a profound difference.

God Bless,

This week, selected STEM students had a wonderful time visiting Perth Zoo as part of our Habitats for Wildlife program. During the excursion, students explored different habitats and considered how animals use their environments to survive and thrive. We observed a range of animals, discussed their needs, and began thinking more deeply about how we can monitor wildlife and take action to support local biodiversity.

This experience has given us lots of inspiration for our own conservation project. We are so lucky to have our school in such a beautiful location, with so many natural spaces and opportunities around us. There are many possibilities for the project we could create to help protect and support wildlife in our own school environment.

We are very excited to begin brainstorming, planning and designing our project in the coming weeks!

National Baseball Tournament Success

Congratulations to Year 6 students Nicholas Rowland and Oscar Archibald on their achievements at the recent National Baseball Tournament. Representing the Eastern Phantoms Charter team, the boys helped secure an impressive fourth-place finish overall.

Nicholas played as a pitcher and short stop, while Oscar contributed in the outfield throughout the tournament. Both students also play for the Morley Eagles Baseball Club during the regular season. We are proud of their dedication and success representing their team on the national stage.
