Reading
In Reading, the Foundation students focused on retelling stories and making inferences. Students explored a range of familiar and engaging texts such as The Gingerbread Man, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, and Elmer. They learned about the 5 Finger Retell strategy to identify the characters, setting, problem, events, and solution in stories. They also learned to infer by discussing how characters may have been feeling and explaining the clues that helped them work this out. Students participated in role plays, creating drawings, making puppets, and sharing ideas with their peers to deepen their understanding of texts.
