Education Week was celebrated and we thank all the families that visited during our open morning. Students participated in the District Cross Country. They demonstrated our school values throughout the event and there is a great sense of pride for the students and their amazing efforts and achievements on the day. Students have made it through to the next round and it will be wonderful to hear about their achievements in the coming weeks. Foundation - Year 3 students participated in National Simultaneous Story time on Wednesday 27th May. They read a wonderful story, Luna Roo: the Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson, Adrian Lloyd and Jake Minton. There are several copies of this wonderful story available in the library for borrowing.

What is National Sorry Day?

National Sorry Day remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’. Students read the book, ‘Sorry Day’  by Coral Vass and participated in important discussions to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation.

What is Reconciliation Week?

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The dates for NRW remain the same each year, commemorating two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey: the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision.

Reconciliation is everyone’s business and National Reconciliation Week is celebrated in all walks of Australian life. The theme for 2026 All In reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. A reminder to all of us that no matter what, the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will and must continue. All In serves as a strong call to action for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation and advancing the rights of First Nations people in everyday life, reminding the public that reconciliation is a shared responsibility rather than an activity for Indigenous people alone

In class, students read the story, ‘Two Mates’ by Melanie Prewett and Maggie Prewett who are proud Indigenous Australian women. Students created personalised and heartfelt Acknowledgements of Country to be displayed in their classrooms and they participated in art lessons with a focus on the Indigenous Australian seasonal calendar. As we find ourselves in Wombat Season, students focus on wombat fur, texture and shading to create amazing artworks which will be displayed in the foyer of our school.

Semester 1 Reports

Teachers are busy finalising student assessment data in preparation for our Semester 1 reports. Over the next couple of weeks, all teachers will be working in Professional Learning Teams to moderate student data in order to make consistent and comparable judgements of student learning against the Victorian Curriculum.

Our teachers will have a Report Writing Day  This will be a Pupil free day Friday 5th June, prior Kings Birthday.

Illnesses

As the cold and flu season makes its unwelcome presence felt, with multiple staff and students currently absent from school for this reason. Please assist us by keeping your child home if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms.
