National Reconciliation Week 2025

This week our school community comes together to honour National Reconciliation Week (NRW), held annually from May 27 to June 3. These dates commemorate two major milestones in Australia's reconciliation journey—the 1967 referendum and the 1992 Mabo decision—marking critical moments of progress toward justice and equality.
This year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. It calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us. This is a time for growth, reflection, and commitment to walking together.
As part of NRW 2025, students will have the opportunity to contribute to a collaborative artwork using the 2025 theme artwork and a symbolic bridge installation in our Wominjeka Garden. This shared creation reflects our collective commitment to reconciliation and provides a visual representation of this year’s theme.
Reconciliation is an ongoing journey. Our school continues this journey by actively engaging with our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). The RAP helps guide our actions and commitments to respectfully embed First Nations perspectives into our school culture, curriculum, and community life.
On other pages of the Wonga Weekly, you can read more about how each year level is acknowledging the week through classroom learning. From storytelling and song, to art and reflection activities, students are exploring the meaning of reconciliation in age-appropriate and powerful ways.
Together, we are “Bridging Now to Next”—as learners, leaders and changemakers.
