Prayer

This Friday is World Refugee Day, as part of Refugee Week. A week where we remember all those who have had to flee their homeland for many reasons: war, persecution, or famine among many other reasons. They have all left their homeland seeking refuge; a place of comfort, a place to feel safe, a place to call home and seeking people to call family.

World Refugee Day Prayer

Loving God of mercy, You call us all home to your heart

Help us to be your heart and hands as we reach out to those who find a new home with us

We pray that Pope Leo and all of our church leaders continue to be advocates for world peace

We pray that those who lead our nation work towards peace at home and around the world

We pray that those of different faiths can unite in peace under one God

We pray that Australia and New Zealand may always be places that welcome those fleeing danger and seeking peace in a new home.

We pray that the God of Mercy brings mercy into your hearts today and always

We pray that the God of Peace make you instruments of Peace today and always

We pray that the God of Love call you to be the love of Jesus in this world

Loving God, you have given us Jesus who showed us a heart of love and a heart of welcome around your table. Hear our prayers that our hearts may be always open to you and the stranger in need. We ask this through Jesus your Son.
