Celebrating Learning

I travelled over land and sea

I met a man who said to me

An old, old, man who said to me

Hey, where do you come from?

Oh I come from clapping land

From clapping land, from clapping land

Oh I come from clapping land

And can you clap like me…

Oh I come from dancing land

From dancing land, from dancing land

Oh I come from dancing land

And can you dance like me…

We are back in the village, dancing with the farmer, woodcutter, baker, pastor and bell ringer in our morning circle and Grimm’s fairy tales.

We are skipping our times tables and alphabet rhymes, a is for apple, b is for … The children continue to create, tell, draw, and write their own sound stories as well as enacting and drawing maths scenarios where village or kingdom folk collect things in ones, tens and hundreds. As the children come up with their own ideas for counting and collecting, these tales are meaningful and memorable for all of us.
