Wellbeing and Learning Go Hand in Hand

At our Catholic school, we believe every child is created in the image and likeness of God. This belief shapes everything we do, especially our understanding that wellbeing and learning are deeply connected. When students feel safe, valued and supported, they are more confident, engaged and open to growth—both academically and personally.

The Living Well, Learning Well framework helps guide our daily practice. It ensures that every student is known, respected and cared for. We focus not only on learning outcomes, but on nurturing the whole person—spiritually, emotionally, socially and intellectually. This approach reflects our commitment to the La Salle values of service, faith and community, which are central to our college values. This week we have asked our students to think about their connections to school and their learning by completing the Living Well. Learning Well Student survey. This survey asks our young people about how they feel about school, their learning and their connections with those around them.

We also believe that every student is a leader. Leadership is not just about titles or positions. It’s about everyday choices—showing kindness, speaking up for what’s right, taking initiative and working with others. Our students are encouraged to see themselves as leaders in their learning and in their relationships with others. We have begun the process of talking to our Year 11 cohort about leadership and the possibilities they have moving into their senior year to take on identified leadership roles within the school.

We see these values come to life across many areas of school life. Whether students are representing the College in rugby league, netball or athletics, or our student leaders are building connections with student leaders from other schools, they are living out what it means to serve, lead and belong. These experiences help them grow in confidence, resilience and empathy.

We also know that life is better when shared. Teamwork and participation add energy and joy to the school day. Whether it’s working together on a class task, joining a club or helping in the community, students flourish when they feel a strong sense of connection. These moments build friendships, trust and a culture where everyone is supported to do their best.

As parents, you play a vital role in this shared mission. Together, we’re forming young people who are capable, compassionate and grounded in Gospel values. Through faith, service and community, we are helping our students become people of character—ready to contribute to the world with purpose and hope.
