PE Term 2 Highlights and Student Achievements
Term 2 has been an exciting and rewarding time for our students, especially in the world of sport and physical education.
Recently, our Class 6 and Class 4 students participated in the interschool athletics carnival. It was a fun, spirited day filled with great sportsmanship and enthusiasm from everyone involved.
A special congratulations to:
- Landon Savage (Class 6), who took out first place in the Boys U12/13 100m and 200m events.
- Letitia Adamson (Class 6), who finished third overall in the Girls U11 division, with an outstanding effort across multiple events:
- 1st in long jump
- 2nd in shot put and 100m
- 3rd in javelin
- Tommy Gerich (Class 4), who came 1st in the 1500m and 3rd in the 100m for the Boys U10 division.
Well done to all the students who competed and supported their classmates in such a respectful and uplifting manner. A heartfelt thank you to the staff who attended and helped manage the day, as well as to the parents who volunteered their time in officiating roles — your support is truly appreciated and essential to the success of events like these. We hope you enjoyed the day just as much as the students did!
We’re also proud to announce several of our students have been selected for the NT State teams in their respective sports:
- Charlotte Tayler – Girls U12 Soccer Team
- Madeline Aila – Girls U12 Netball Squad
- Letitia Adamson – Athletics Squad
- Landon Savage – Athletics Squad
In addition, congratulations to:
- Madeline Aila and the Girls U12 Alice Springs Region Netball Team, who finished second in Division 1 at the recent Regional Netball Championships in Darwin.
- Bailey Aila and the Boys U12 Alice Springs Region Cricket Team, who placed third at the Regional Cricket Championships in Darwin.
Term 2 PE Overview
PE classes this term have been dynamic and engaging across all year levels:
- Class 1 focused on fundamental skills like balancing, catching, passing, and skipping, with plenty of energy-filled tag games to build coordination and fun.
- Class 2 continued to build their spatial awareness and ball-handling skills, also through energetic tag-based games.
- Class 3 explored teamwork and coordination through games like rounders and netball numbers, obstacle courses, and a class favourite – rock-paper-scissors hopscotch.
- Class 4 enjoyed learning hockey and lacrosse, along with fun activities such as the game “Narnia.”
- Classes 5 and 6 focused primarily on interschool sports, revisiting hockey and athletics, and mixing it up with some tennis and popular games like netball numbers, soccer, golden child, and Narnia.
Throughout Term 2, it’s been a joy to witness students grow in their understanding of honesty, fair play, teamwork, engagement, and sportsmanship.
I look forward to continuing this positive development in Semester 2 and supporting all students on their PE journeys.
All the best,
Heath Morris
