Class 1 News

HARRY BROWN

Class One are completing and English Main Lesson.

The topic is Co-Created texts, where we jointly remember a significant event from a past story and then write a brief passage from the story followed by a picture.

During this process we sound out the letters and the blended sounds some pairs of letters make. We point out a few rules of grammar occasionally, and break words into syllables as we tackle them.

It is very interesting to hear the events that are recalled some significant details are from many months ago. Socially we have really progressed mainly due to co-operative projects which have fostered the need to help each other.

Gardening is a team building exercise, as is the massive jointly constructed cubby in the sand pit. Everyone has had a hand in the digging and moving of large logs which has overcome issues around exclusive bases.

Similarly, the complicated lantern construction this year has required children to work together to complete the framework, likewise the final stages of costume preparation have required ‘all in’ to help each other across the line.
