Cubby Houses @ Rosanna

Parade College’s VET carpentry students have recently put their skills to work in a meaningful and creative way  by designing and constructing two beautifully crafted cubby houses for Rosanna Primary School.

This project is part of Parade’s ongoing commitment to hands-on learning, community engagement, and real-world skill development. Under the guidance of their skilled instructors Simon (Pictured here), students in the Carpentry stream took on the challenge from initial design concepts to the final build, gaining invaluable experience in planning, teamwork, and construction.

The finished cubbies, now proudly being installed at Rosanna Primary School, are more than just play spaces. Students can explore their imagination, collaborate with friends, and enjoy the outdoors. Each cubby reflects the care and attention to detail that Parade VCAL students brought to the task and stands as a testament to their growing capabilities as future tradespeople.

This initiative highlights the value of applied learning programs like VET, where students can thrive in practical environments while contributing meaningfully to the wider community. Well done to all the students and staff involved!

Special shout out to Kristen Munro for organising the contact with Parade and Anne-Marie Morello Convenor of Community Action Programs & Ministry Team Member at Parade College.

Helping Build Our School Library Collection – Your Book Requests Matter!

We believe that a school library should be a reflection of the diverse interests, curiosity, and passions of our students. That's why we are excited to introduce a new and easy way for you to request books that you would like to see added to our library collection. Whether it’s the latest popular series or a hidden gem we want to make sure our library is stocked with books that our students are excited to read and explore.

How It Works:

  1. Access the Book Request Link:  We’ve created a simple online form where you can suggest books for the library.
  2. Submit Your Suggestions:  Once you’ve clicked the link, simply fill out the form with the details of the book you’d like to request.
  3. Celebrate the Addition:  Once the book is added to the library, we’ll let you know at assembly when it is available.

By letting us know what books are in demand, we can ensure that our collection is current, diverse, and reflective of the things our students are passionate about. Whether it's a trending topic or a favorite genre, your input helps us create a library that sparks excitement and engagement, and student voice.

So, what are you waiting for? Use the link today to suggest a book, and help us build a library that inspires a love of reading for everyone!

Thank you for your continued support in fostering a vibrant, engaging, and student-centered library experiences.

Big Group Hug

Every child deserves to feel warm and comfortable. Unfortunately, many children in our community are living without the most basic necessities - warm clothing and bedding. This is where you come in!

We’re asking the RPS community to donate new and pre-loved winter clothing and bed linen for children aged 1-16 (sizes 4-16 most needed) for distribution to the families Big Group Hug supports in the cold winter months, and year-round.

Please see here for more information: https://winterwarmers.biggrouphug.org/
