Literacy

In Literacy we are continuing to learn about the Etymology of words which is the origin of how words were formed. We have been learning the Latin word 'rupt' which means break or burst and explored how this word forms other words by adding prefixes and suffixes. For example, dis + rupt = disrupt and e + rupt = erupt. There are many other words which we formed using 'rupt' as the base word and adding various prefixes and suffixes.

All students have been enjoying the 'Fluency Pairs' comprehension reading passages which assist with fluency and comprehension. We recently read a fluency passage about the Indigenous 'Sorry Day' which the students found very interesting and this led to a discussion about Indigenous culture and history concerning 'Sorry Day'.

Maths

In Maths, we have been continuing to learn about Prime Numbers, Composite Numbers, factors and Fact Families. We are also consolidating our 3 and 4 times tables by adapting Fact Families to the time tables.

Inquiry

In Inquiry, the students are continuing to learn about geography, resources and sustainability.  All Level 3 students have now commenced their ERP for Term 2. They have chosen a sustainability 'problem' and are working on an invention to manage or resolve the 'problem'.
