Teaching and Learning

Teaching and Learning:

Over the past two weeks, our students have been completing a range of assessments in both English and Mathematics. These assessments play an important role in helping teachers build a clear and accurate picture of each student’s learning progress.

To ensure we are making well-informed decisions about where each student is working in relation to the Victorian Curriculum, we use a variety of assessment tools. This includes both formative assessments (which help us understand learning as it happens) and summative assessments (which reflect what students have learned over a period of time).

By gathering a range of data from different sources, we can triangulate the information to ensure we have the most reliable and accurate understanding of each child’s progress. This helps us determine each student’s progression point for their Semester One report.

Beyond reporting, these assessments are also a valuable tool for teachers. They help us plan lessons that meet students’ needs and support their continued growth and achievement.
