Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships:
Respectful Relationships: Help Seeking
Recently, in 5/6 Crawford, we have been learning about the importance of students knowing when and how they can seek help to solve problems. Students have learned how to identify a range of problems, to respect that we experience different issues from others, and how they may benefit from seeking help from their peers or supporting their peers during times of need.
During our learning, we discussed a range of ‘Scenario Cards’ to identify that we are presented with different problems in life and that these can be personal, friendship, family or related to our work and study. We have discussed how problems can affect people in different ways and can register on some people’s radar as a ‘Big problem’ that is distressing and very serious, or may not even register on others' radars.
Our lesson ended with highlighting how important it is to support young people’s resilience by recognising and celebrating their ability to seek help. This can be done independently, but at times it is important to recognise and empower them with the knowledge and skills to seek her from other services when they can identify that they need extra support.
Grade 1/2’s have been enjoying their SWPBS Class rewards.
We have all voted for the Whole School Reward for Term 2 so stay tuned…
All children have been working hard to earn their SWPBS Class rewards. We have had class parties, free time, an icy-pole day, bring a teddy to school, pyjama and casual clothes day.
Students have been cashing in their individual rewards once they have reached 10, 20 or 30 stickers. Some of these include, free time, quiet drawing, colouring, helping their teacher for a session, choosing a sibling or a friend’s class to head to for a session.
Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge
We now have 24 students who have begun their Premier’s Reading Challenge from home. These students have read a combined total of 315 books! What a wonderful effort!
I look forward to seeing more logged books appear in the next few weeks!
Happy reading everyone.

National Simultaneous Storytime Reading
Last Tuesday, we celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime with a special reading of The Truck Cat. Students enjoyed making their own origami ‘Tinker’ cat from the story. A big thank you to Jingjing, Kayenat and Lily, our Grade 6s, for helping the younger students!!
