Insects and Pasta Crafts in Foundation Science

Our Foundation students have been buzzing with excitement as they learn all about insects! They've explored different types of insects, their unique features, and fascinating lifecycles. A highlight of the unit was creating insect lifecycle models using pasta. Each stage—from egg to adult—was represented with a different pasta shape, helping students visualise how insects grow and change.

First Tabloid Sports Day Fun!

Our Foundation students also had a fantastic time at their very first Tabloid Sports Day! Dressed proudly in their house colours, they took part in a morning full of energetic games, teamwork, and laughter. From obstacle courses to pizza relays, it was wonderful to see everyone giving their best and cheering on their friends. What a fun way to build team spirit and stay active!

Author Visit - Tanya Hill Inspires Year 1

Last Friday, our Year 1 students were treated to a very special visit from Tanya Hill—scientist, astronomer, and author.

Tanya introduced herself and spoke about her exciting work exploring the night sky. She shared how her love of science and storytelling led her to write her first book for children, the beautiful picture book, When the Stars Come Out.

Tanya read the book aloud to the students, who were captivated by the stunning illustrations and fascinating facts about stars, planets, and the wonders of space. After the reading, students had the chance to ask Tanya questions. They were eager to learn more about the sky at night and what it’s like to be a real-life author and astronomer.

Tanya’s visit sparked curiosity and wonder in our young learners. Her passion for science and her engaging storytelling left a lasting impression. We are so grateful for the opportunity to learn from such an inspiring guest and we thank Tanya for making the visit so memorable!
