Principal's Report

We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.

We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people.

May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.

School Uniform

As we move through another wonderful term of learning and growth, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on something simple yet significant—our school uniform.

Wearing the school uniform is about more than just clothing. It’s a symbol of pride, unity, and belonging. When our students put on their uniform each morning, they are not only preparing for a day of learning—they are also representing our school values and spirit.

Uniforms help create a sense of equality among students. Regardless of background, every child walks through our gates feeling part of the same team. This builds confidence, encourages positive behaviour, and reduces distractions, allowing students to focus more on their learning and friendships.

We also know that a neat and tidy uniform can have a positive impact on a child’s mindset. It sets the tone for the day and helps children feel ready and prepared. Just like wearing a sports kit helps athletes get into the right frame of mind for a game, wearing our uniform helps our learners feel confident and focused.

We kindly ask for your support in ensuring your child wears the correct school uniform each day, including appropriate shoes and accessories. Your partnership helps us reinforce the values we all want to instil in our students—respect, responsibility, and pride in being part of something bigger than themselves.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for helping us maintain high standards across our school community.

A new arrival

We proudly announce that Casey Simpson, and her family, have welcomed baby Kaden Lee during the recent school holidays. Everyone is doing really well and are very excited at Kaden's arrival, as are we. Congratulations!

National Simultaneous Storytime

Today our whole school participated in National Simultaneous Storytime. Over 2.2 million people across the country joined together today at 12:00 pm to engage in a story and enjoy the wonder of stories. Students and staff gathered with their buddy class and shared some time together enjoying The Truck Cat. The story was read to them by the author, hearing from both the author and illlustrator about the making of the book - inspirational for our young readers and writers. Look our for photos of this scholwide experience in next week's newsletter.

Assessment & Rating

It is important that our Kindergarten and OSHC Services are recognised and celebrated for their recent work in the National Assessment & Rating Process. Assessment and Rating is the process in which early childhood education and care services are assessed and rated by authorised officers against the National Quality Standard. This process provided our services with a great opportunity to showcase the quality and compliance that staff in these areas strive to achieve to the highest level each and every day for every child in their care and every familiy connected to the service. The outcome of this assessment will be shared with families once received.

Assembly

Our special assembly is taking place this Friday at 2:30 pm. We warmly welcome all of the significant women in our students' lives to join us for some well-deserved recognition.

Enjoy the rest of the week,

Kylie Nissen.
