Kii from The Music Room!

Kii and welcome back to another fabulous year at TPS! TPS students are having one Semester of Music this year and the first semester is Foundation - Year 2 plus 2/3S. 

I teach using the music education frameworks of Kodaly and Orff and love to see our students grow in confidence while having fun in Music. I am planning to add a little drama and dance to the lessons this year too. I have a background in classical piano but my love is playing in bands, having a sing-a-long and leading choirs that are accessible and joyful. Foundation students have been getting to know the Music Room and have been singing some familiar and new songs. They have been moving to music and playing music games and hand percussion.

Students in 1/2 classes and 2/3S have been practising Growth Mindset, which, in music suggests; “Practice makes progress” and “Mistakes help us learn, so give it a go!”. We have been singing the song "The Rattlin’ Bog" and students made their own stories to the song.

Year 5/6 Band (Spicies)

Year 5 and 6 students have been meeting and working out what they want from a band this year. We discussed options and had a vote and have decided to have a separate Year 6 band and Year 5 band who will rehearse each once a fortnight. Excitement is rising!
