Celebrating Learning

Global Citizenship byJuneaux Brennan

On Thursday last week we started Unit Focus. This term we are learning about Global Citizenship. The first thing that we did was talk about citizens and what they are.

We learnt that citizens have rights and responsibilities, like in Australia it is a responsibility to vote. We learnt that rights and responsibilities can be anywhere, like at home, at school, or out in public places. After talking about all of the rights and responsibilities and why we have them we got split up into two groups, the Minorians and Majorians. I was A Minorian and I was told we were an extremely small and poor country with a rich history and the Majorians' country was super rich and they had everything. We had been colonised and barely had anything so the Majorians were coming over to our country to give us resources and we should give them some of ours. We had given them games and other stuff that could have never compared with what they had given us. We had gotten food, water, money, and technology. But being a minorian meant we were stronger, we had been colonised and we still made do with our resources and taking the stuff meant we were getting soft.. But then again if they had not given us all of the food and water would we have survived? I'm a proud minorian. LONG LIVE MINORIA!!!! After the game we learnt about what the other team thought about us and it sounded like they were the more powerful country even though everyone in minoria was a team and it seemed like not everyone in Majoria was like us. The ‘Minorians and majorians' game was my favourite! We ate lunch and then came back inside to learn about the UN (aka the United Nations). We went on the UN website and found out that they had 17 goals to complete! We got into teams and went on the website and chose 1 goal. My team had chosen health and wellbeing. We had to take notes about it and eventually we will have to make a presentation about it but we didn't have enough time to finish doing the notes. I really don't want to do the presentation. I hate speaking in front of people!!!!
