Upcoming College Events

Harmony week is an annual national event celebrated in the week that surrounds March 21, recognising the richness of diversity and cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. In celebrating Harmony Week, we can learn and understand how all Australians from diverse backgrounds equally belong to this nation and enrich it.

St Anne's College will be joining in Harmony Day celebrations on Thursday, March 21. On this day, we invite our students to wear clothes that showcase their culture. Students can wear traditional cultural clothing, flag colours, cultural sporting tops or the 'Harmony Week' colour of orange.

To ensure this day is respectful and can be enjoyed by all, we respectfully ask that students wear items that are significant to their own culture only. The college does not condone and will not tolerate the wearing of clothing of another culture or "dressing up" as a cultural group which is not their own. Please ensure students dress in a manner that will enable them to partake in a general school day as well as cultural experiences, safely.

Students will be participating in activities and experiences that celebrate the cultural diversity within our College. Families wishing to volunteer to be a part of our Harmony Day celebrations, by sharing elements of their culture (in the form of cultural art/craft activities, dance, music etc.) are asked to email Deputy Principal of Community Wellbeing, Kate McGrath kmcgrath@sackialla.catholic.edu.auPlease note all volunteers are required to have a working with children's check and to attend a volunteer child safety session prior to the day.

We are excited for a day filled with fun, respect, learning and celebration.

Following the implementation of the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022, the number of student free days will increase from 12 to 14 in 2024. Under the policy Primary schools are allowed 9 student free days, Secondary schools and P-12 settings, 14 days. This is in line with the CES Ltd Policies and Procedures.

Dear Families, we apologise for a misprint in a recent letter referring to a Student Free Day on Tuesday, August 23. This should read Friday, August 23. Please find attached a list of all Student Free Days which has appeared in our last few newsletters.
