Round Square Zoom Postcard

On Wednesday 28th February, St Philip’s hosted a Round Square Postcard with our Junior Leaders and some of our Senior Round Square Committee.  It is called a postcard but it’s actually a Zoom call and ours was with 90 students from Round Square schools all around the world, including India, New Zealand, Kenya, South Africa and excitingly Colombia, who got up at 1am to join us!

Our leaders attended quite a few training sessions and were leading discussions and activities with the other students in break-out rooms.  Our theme for our postcard was ‘Our House Systems’ and we were so proud of the students who represented each of our houses, sharing information about the history of the names and mentors, as well as our carnivals and how we celebrate in our houses.

The actual Zoom call was 60 minutes long, and our students were wonderful leading the discussions with other students of a similar age (13 to 15).  Mrs Egan and Ms Hutchinson, supported by our captains Dooriya, Lydia, Viraaj and Nia helped make sure that everyone was doing a great job in their rooms all spread out over the Student Hub (we couldn’t do it all in one room as we would have echoed, and the noise would have been loud).

Congratulations to Matilda Bhattarai for representing Flynn, Andy Gailey and Eunice Tabbada for representing Griffiths, Charlotte McArthur and Ella Schwer for representing McKay, Isla Petrick for representing Partridge, Zoe Trull and Adele Brookes for Rolland and Eleanor Twine, Emma Neubauer and Darsh Bhoolah for Topsy Smith.

Isla and Charlotte also did a great job welcoming everyone and starting off the call.  We loved hearing about the houses in other people’s schools – some people only have 4, and one school had up to 10!  We had some similar carnivals and activities to others and it was fun seeing different outfits, the names of people’s houses, and what school looks like for them.  The hour went very quickly.

We can’t wait to host another one soon!
