Positive Behaviours for Learning
At SFS, our PBL (Positive behaviours for learning) school wide expectations are:
Respect,
Responsibility and
Kindness
This week at school we have continued to focus on learning school routines such as packing up and transitions, entering the learning space, lunchtimes and specialist classes.
Here are some of our lucky PBL raffle winners from last Friday. It is wonderful to see so many students following our school learning routines and demonstrating our school expectations.
If your child brings home a PBL card, ask them to tell you why the teacher gave them the card and what school expectations they were demonstrating. Please sign the card and your child can return it to school and place it in the PBL raffle box in the learning space.
Respectful Relationships
The whole-school approach to Respectful Relationships aims to create a future where family
violence and gender inequality are not tolerated in Victoria.
As part of the whole school approach schools commit to the following:
We understand that:
• gender stereotypes and gender inequality are one of the lead contributors to family violence
• our school can generate lasting changes in young people’s attitudes and behaviours which can then contribute to addressing family violence.
We recognise that we have great potential to create change. Our school is a:
• space for young people to learn
• workplace where all staff, students and families deserve to feel respected, safe and valued
• community hub with the opportunity to lead, influence and contribute to a healthy community culture.
In Term 1, the children at SFS will cover Topic 8, Positive Gender relationships. Learning activities within this topic focus on building an understanding of the effects of gender-based violence and focus on the standards associated with respectful relationships. Students develop the skills needed to solve problems, set boundaries within relationships, and play an active role within the prevention of gender-based violence. They develop peer support and help-seeking skills that can be applied in response to situations involving gender-based violence in family, peer, community or on-line relationships.
If you would like any more information about the Respectful Relationships program, please contact me at school.
If you have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please do not hesitate to contact me. rlenko@sfslynbrook.catholic.edu.au
