Student Spotlight - Tahnysha. T

Today we congratulate our amazing Year 12 student, Tahnysha. T!

Tahnysha had an awe-inspiring 2023 with so many achievements from both inside and outside of school life. We can't wait to see all the incredible goals Tahnysha unlocks for 2024.

Words from Tahnysha:

"On Wednesday 13th December 2023, I attended the Hotham Community Spirit and Leadership Award Ceremony at Wellington Secondary College, with other students from the Hotham area who had been recognised by their schools for their contributions to the school community and leadership. It was an honour to be selected amongst so many worthy students from Killester College and to be presented my award by Hon Clare O'Neil MP (Member for Hotham).

In 2023, I was a Sports Leader, represented the school in cross country, athletics and aerobics, participated in the music program including Concert Band, played the role of Arista in the school production of The Little Mermaid, participated in the Access Monash Mentoring Program, and the Victorian Youth Leaders: Global Youth Program. Outside of school, I was a silver medalist at the Victorian State Karate Championships, the Australian Open Karate Championships and the Australian National Championships. I also graded my 2nd Dan - Nidan. I also successfully completed two year 12 subjects - Biology and Indonesian."

Primary School Visits - 21 February

Today we took four of our Year 8 students: Jasmine, Tanuli, Chloe and Keira to visit their primary schools.

This was a special visit for our students as they got to reconnect with their primary school teachers and have the opportunity to share their experience of transitioning from primary school to Killester College.

Students at Resurrection and St John Vianney's Primary School were such a wonderful group of young people who asked excellent questions and were engaged throughout the visit.

We hope to see many of them again at one of our School Tours and Twilight Evening on the 24 April.

Year 10 Painting and Printmaking - 23 February

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of welcoming back Artist, John Lawry, who facilitated an all-day incursion with our Year 10 Painting and Printmaking class.

In preparation for the day, students photographed their three most cherished objects, transferred the image onto a canvas, and then painted the image with oil paint.

John showed the students how to mix colours to create tone and form, enabling for a realistic painting.

We look forward to displaying the finished artwork!
