Work Experience in 2024
- Sylvia McMullen
The opportunity to complete work experience in 2024 is strongly encouraged for students in Year 10 and, on occasion, to students in Year 9. The purpose of work experience is to give students an insight into industry and the workplace.
When can my son or daughter undertake work experience?
Students are expected to complete work experience during the school holiday breaks. We do not have a designated time for students in Year 10 to complete work experience.
Deadlines to return paperwork to Mrs McMullen:
14 March – Term 1 holiday break
31 May – Term 2 holiday break
30 October – Term 3 holiday break
20 November – students can complete work experience up until 20/12/24
How is work experience arranged?
The first step is for the student to approach a business or workplace and ask if they would accept a work-experience student. It is best if the student is involved in this step and considers careers or work that they feel they may be interested in.
The student needs to complete the following and return them to Mrs McMullen:
- an online OH&S module to receive a Certificate of Completion: safe@work General module | vic.gov.au (www.vic.gov.au)
- A work placement arrangement form (completed by the student, parents and workplace): work-experience-arrangement-form.pdf (education.vic.gov.au).
- If there is a requirement to travel with the employer: www.education.vic.gov.au/PAL/work-experience-travel-accommodation-form.pdf
- If the work placement involves working with animals: www.education.vic.gov.au/PAL/working-with-animals-form.docx
I am very happy to assist students with this process - please encourage your sons and daughters to come and discuss their plans with me. Also, feel free to contact me via smcmullen@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au
