From the Principal

- Mr Michael Horne

Along with our Registrar, Susie Holcombe, I am currently in China for a series of international student exhibitions in Shanghai, Guangzhou and then Hong Kong SAR. We have enjoyed some very productive conversations with prospective families and student agents who are interested in Hamilton. International students are an important part of our College; they receive a first-class education in a safe and welcoming environment and add greatly to the experience of local students.

Susie and I were fortunate this week to be invited back by our friends at Gaoyou Middle School. The College and Gaoyou have enjoyed a long strategic partnership, with Year 9 College students spending time in Gaoyou and attending the school for almost twenty years. Delegations of staff and students from Gaoyou visited Hamilton throughout this time, although the partnership has quietened since COVID prevented further trips. I had the opportunity to meet Principal Huang and Hannah Sun, both of whom are well known to many of our staff, to discuss the continued relationship between our schools. While it will look different from the past, both schools are positive about the relationship resuming. Our friends in Gaoyou are not forgotten, and we hope to have reciprocal visits of students and staff in the coming years.

Principal Huang sent his good wishes to all at the College, and I returned those to all at Gaoyou. We were presented with a gift of a book commemorating the relationship between the two schools, which is appropriately titled Friendship Endures Forever. This was greatly appreciated and will be added to the College collection.
