Hello Foundation Families,
Last Friday in Foundation we started our kitchen/garden program. We had a beautiful sunny day to get into the school's vegetable garden. Students explored the garden with a scavenger hunt as for many it was their first time. Then they worked together to plant some onion and lettuce plants. In kitchen, students made tasty fruit skewers and created their own paper vegetable garden patch. The kitchen/garden program is a great extension of our Guided Inquiry unit this term, "How did that get in my lunchbox?" Students were able to explore where our fruit and vegetables start in the garden and how they turn out when they make it to our kitchens/lunchboxes.
Following a successful week of addition, this week in Maths we started looking at subtraction and modelled with physical materials such as counters, 10s frames and abacuses. We then wrote a subtraction number sentence to match.
In English we have continued looking at identifying the problem and solution in narrative texts. It has been a pleasure seeing student's growth in reading and comprehension, and their self motivation to progress through their Magic 100 words.
Kind Regards,
Tegan, Emma and Ash
