Inquiry Centre
Highlight
Selamat Siang,
It’s been an exciting and productive week in the Inquiry Centre! Students have been learning how to write persuasive texts using the correct structure and they’ve done an incredible job! We had some lively class debates on fun topics such as whether ice cream or chocolate is better, and whether it’s more enjoyable to swim in a pool or at the beach. The students shared thoughtful opinions and backed them up with strong reasons.
In Maths, we’ve been exploring different strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems, including the split strategy and the jump strategy. Using icy pole sticks, MAB blocks, and mini whiteboards, students showed their working and explained their thinking with growing confidence.
We also had a fantastic time roleplaying a variety of first aid scenarios. Students practised deciding what to do in different situations—whether to ask an adult for help, call 000, or use a band-aid. They discussed their ideas in small groups and worked together to choose the most appropriate response for each situation.
On Thursday afternoon, we were excited to welcome some special guests into our classroom for our Open Afternoon. The students loved having visitors join us for our wellbeing lesson as we explored different emotions and how to recognise them. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn together, share our ideas, and build emotional awareness in a fun and supportive environment.
Enjoy your weekend!

Reminders
Whilst Pokemon cards are a lot of fun, we are asking that these cards only be bought to school on a Friday when Pokémon club is on.
We are asking for students to leave small toys at home as some of the toys that have recently been brought to school are going missing which of course brings great disappointment.
Students are growing and at times very hungry! They are encouraged to bring some fruit/vegetables to have during a fruit break mid-morning.
