Principal Team's Message

Nurture.  Innovate.  Celebrate.

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families,

I want to begin by thanking our School Leaders; Kaylee, Ashleigh, Luke and our staff members; Ms Warner, Miss Kristalyn and Ms Butler for representing Maramba Primary School at the ANZAC Day dawn service on Friday, 25th April 2025. Your presence on this occasion reflects the values of respect, gratitude, responsibility and community spirit that we hold dear at Maramba. Thank you.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

We are excited to introduce a revised version of the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) Matrix, also known as the behavior expectation matrix, which has been reviewed with students, staff, and families.

Schoolwide expectations are guiding principles — valued behaviours and attitudes for success at school. At Maramba Primary School, we are committed to fostering an environment where our values empower our students to excel academically and personally while becoming responsible, compassionate, and engaged members of society. It serves as a valuable resource for fostering a positive and supportive school environment, ensuring that everyone is clear and consistent about behaviour expectations, which helps reduce confusion. The inclusion of visuals in the matrix enhances its accessibility and makes it more inclusive and user-friendly for our students. We welcome feedback from our community—please don’t hesitate to email or call the school, as your input is always appreciated.

Teaching Excellence Program 2025

Our school values the learning and development of our staff, and the positive impact this has on student outcomes and school improvement.

We are proud to share that Mrs Madeleine Rosewall has begun her professional learning journey through the Teaching Excellence Program at the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership. This program enables teachers to advance their capabilities and excellence in teaching. Through the program, Mrs Rosewall will grow her knowledge of teaching practice by participating in professional learning and inquiring deeply into two areas of their practice, using the evidence-informed practice, generative AI, First Nations’ perspectives, student engagement tools and discipline-specific learning. She will also be inspired by national and international experts in the field of education through two dedicated conferences.

We look forward to seeing Mrs Rosewall implement her knowledge and skills from the program to continue supporting student outcomes and wellbeing at our school.

Election Day - FOM Event

A big thank you to all our amazing parent volunteers, our Friends of Maramba (FOM) team, students and staff who helped make the Election Day BBQ a huge success by raising $1200! We truly appreciate the time, effort, and support you gave to this important fundraiser for our school. Your contributions and efforts mean a lot to us.

2025 Student Attitudes to School Survey

The AtoSS is a voluntary student survey offered by the Department of Education every year to help schools and the department understand students' experiences of school. We will ask your child about their thoughts and feelings about their school, their learning, relationships with other students, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general. ORIMA Research Pty Ltd has been contracted by the department to manage the collection of the online survey and will provide support to schools through a telephone hotline and email.

This year, the survey will be conducted at your school from 12th May to 13th June for students in Year 4-6.

What are the benefits?

Young people enjoy having a say! This survey has been running for nearly 20 years and helps schools plan programs and activities to improve your child's engagement with school, their wellbeing and their learning. The survey data also helps the Department of Education understand how to improve student learning.

What will my child be asked to do?

Your child will be invited to complete the survey online during class time using a purpose built secure online survey tool. We are not “testing” your child. Please note:

  • Students can choose if they want to take part, skip questions if they don’t want to answer, and can stop doing the survey at any time.

  • There are different versions of the survey to let all students take part.

  • The survey will take around 20-40 minutes to complete.

What if I do not want my child to do the survey?

This survey is voluntary. If you do not want your child to do the survey, please opt out by emailing your school at maramba.ps@education.vic.gov.au before the survey starts on May 26th.

Student personal information will be shared with ORIMA Research to facilitate survey preparations prior to this opt out process. If you opt your child out of participating, then your school will ensure that your child is not provided with access to the survey. Student details will be deleted by ORIMA Research at the conclusion of the survey.

If your school does not receive a “Refusal of Consent” email from you before the survey begins, we will assume that you agree for your child to take part in the 2025 Attitudes to School Survey. Please remember, as noted above, the survey is voluntary: even with your consent, your child can choose to skip questions or stop doing the survey at any time

Mother's Day

The Mother's Day Stall was open on Thursday morning, and students enjoyed buying gifts for their mums and special friends. They loved walking around the stall and choosing something special. A big thank you to FOM for organising and running the Mother's Day Stall!

This week, each class celebrated Mother's Day on Thursday afternoon. Activities included a High Tea, bracelet making, trivia, crafts and listening to a special song.

Wishing all mums and special friends a truly wonderful Mother’s Day this Sunday! Your love, care, and kindness make a world of difference, and we celebrate everything you do.

Kind regards,
