Grade 5/6

At the end of Term 1, the 5/6 students were lucky enough to have some AFL Hawthorn players visit them for a Q&A session! The players included Jack Ginnivan, Jai Newcombe, Cam Mackenzie and Bailey Macdonald. The students asked the players a range of questions such as their training programs, most difficult team to play against, best moments in their career and the process of being selected for a club. The players gave such thoughtful responses and our students were very appreciative of their time.
The teachers had some special visitors to their planning day, the Year 5/6 Junior School Council representatives! An important element of planning day is listening to our student's voice what they enjoy about school and what they wish that could do more or less of. Earlier in the week, the representatives spoke with their class members about these questions, before attending a portion of the planning day and sharing their ideas. We are very proud of the way the representatives brought their ideas to our meeting and considered how student ideas could be integrated into our learning next Term.
Some of their ideas included:
- Doing more sport and wellbeing games for brain breaks
- Having more team projects, such as in their inquiry lessons
- Preference for free writing
- Enjoying the Top 10 lessons in Maths
- They liked having a rubric as they found it helps them to learn and know where to go next
- Wanting to investigate AI in their learning
Another exciting update is that our Year 6 celebratory tops and jumpers have arrived! It has been fantastic seeing the students wearing their clothes with pride and excitement.
Kind regards,
