Principals Message

Dear families,

This term is off to a flyer with a stong emphasis on learning and teaching, intervention and Catholic Education Week.

Staff Professional Learning

The term started really positively with staff having three days of professional learning with over 3000 staff across Sandhurst. Jared Cooney Horvath was our key speaker for the three days, focussing on the neuroscience behind learning, coping and remembering. Jared is world-renowned within the field of neuroscience within education. It was an amazing three days that was full of many ‘Uh ha’ moments as we were able to link the learning with our own practice and context.

Catholic Education Week

This week is Catholic Education Week, whereby we get to show off our little school to the wider community and prospective families. So far we have had several events and

have more planned this week. I invite families in on Friday for our Special Visitors Morning from 11:40 – 12:30pm. Families will come into classes and participate in a Mother’s/Significant females Day activity in class before we attend Mass at 12:30pm in the church with Fr Boniface.

Enrolments NOW OPEN

We are proud to announce that we are now accepting enrolments for all grades for 2026 so please let your friends and families know that enrolment packs can be collected from our lovely admins and principal tours can be facilitated by appointment any time.

St Mary’s offers contemporary education and programs that are at the forefront of current research and that are strongly grounded in evidence. Our faith community is vibrant, engaging and welcoming with modern facilities, friendly staff and beautiful children and families.

Mother’s Day stall/High tea (Calling all dads)

Today was the first of two days of our wonderful P and F holding the Mother’s Day stall. They will open again on Thursday for any students who missed out today.

On Friday after Mass, we invite all Mums, Aunts, Grandmas and significant females in to the school for our ‘High Tea’. This is just one small gesture that we hold to thank all the wonderful females in our lives for all that you do and for being you.

I am calling out any dads who are available to assist with this to let myself or the office know.

Carpark safety

Once again, I ask that if you are using the carpark for pick up or drop off, can you please walk the students over the road to ensure their safety. No child should be walking across the road by themselves. Please pass this message on to anyone else who drops your children off. I thank you for your continued support of our safety culture at the school.

Interschool Cross County

Tomorrow our Year 4-6 students will attend the interschool cross country in Shepparton. We wish the students the very best and know that you’ll represent St Mary’s beautifully.

Once again, I thank each of you for your ongoing support and encourage you to come and see me if you have any questions or concerns.

Attendance Matters

Attendance matters! When children attend school regularly, they have the best opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Being at school each day helps them build knowledge, develop friendships, and stay engaged in their learning.

Missing school can make it harder to keep up, leading to gaps in learning and missed social opportunities. Consistent attendance sets children up for success, not just in school but in the future as well. Everyday counts! 😊📚

Thank you for a fantastic term and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or queries.

God Bless

Vin Ryan
