What's Been Happening?

kYear 3 Mathematics

In Year 3 this week, we have been reviewing our subtraction skills by playing card games. One of our favourites has been ‘Nifty Fifty’, where we tried to create a subtraction question with an answer of 50, using 4 cards we drew from the deck. The person with the answer closest to 50 wins!

Year 4 Camp - Sovereign Hill & Log Cabin Camp Creswick

Some Camp Highlights

I loved the giant swing because when you're up, you have a great view and when you drop and go up, you are tilted to your back and it feels like you’re doing a backflip.

-Amber-

On of my camp highlights was crate stacking because I got to be the person who gets pulled up into the sky by a rope. Some people were at the bottom passing crates to me so I could make the crate tower higher.

-Zara-

Sitting at the dinner table with my friends together because I loved being with my friends eating delicious food.

-Oscar-

One of my camp highlights was going on the Clip ‘n’ Climb because I tried obstacles that I thought were scary but actually were extreemly enjoyable.

-Amelia-

My first camp highlight was being in the cabins talking for a bit and then eventually falling asleep. Even though it was hard to sleep, it was fun!

Year 5/6 Camp - Camp Wyuna Queenscliff

Camp report - Joao

Boogie Boarding

SPLASH! I got swallowed by this big wave. It spun me around, it pushed me back to shore and I ran back into the water. I looked around for another wave and then I saw a really big wave coming my way . I turned around and started paddling and kicking trying to catch the wave. SPLOSH! I just burly caught the wave.

Bike Riding

Riding my bike along the bay with crystal clear water.

When I saw a lot of sand on the pavement I rode as fast as I could, which didn't turn out very well. I turned a bit too hard and I almost fell.  I carried on the ride till we had to go up a tiny hill to see that we ended at a park that we could play at for 10 to 15 minutes. Then we rode back to the camp and had lunch.

Pizza Making

SMASH! I hit the pizza dough really hard. I am now up to shaping the dough into a pizza shape. You could make it in many different shapes and sizes but I just did a normal circle.

Then we put on some toppings like cheese, tomato sauce, pineapple ham, pepperoni and stuff like that.i just made a margarita which is just cheese and tomato sauce.

Then we put the pizzas in the pizza oven and let them cook for about 1 to 2 minutes. after that we ate the pizza

CAMP REPORT - Olivia M

As we finally walked through the gate of Camp Wyuna, a random burst of exhilarating excitement surged inside me, a feeling I could hardly contain. I eagerly grabbed a colorful suitcase and dashed to the main area where everyone was enthusiastically seated, chattering and laughing. As time passed, I suddenly remembered how ravenously hungry I was and quickly grabbed my meal, devouring it in one gulp. We all eagerly prepared for our engaging Marine Biology cruise, feeling the thrill of discovery in the air. I couldn’t wait for the adventures that lay ahead! However the day didn't stop there we ended the day with bolognese for dinner and the funnest trivia ever! From hard but fun questions down to guessing the lyrics to Pink pony club. I was in team four with Victoria Dinh, Franky, Lucas, Imogen and Hugh and fortunately, I WON!

After barely getting any sleep we had another wild day to come. We started the day with going into our groups, I was put in Singreys and I started with making pizzas.

The excitement in the air was contagious as we started to gather the ingredients to make the mini pizza dough. With flour dusting my hands and the smell of freshly kneaded dough, I felt ready to create a delicious masterpiece with my friends. As I spread the delicious tomato sauce and sprinkled on the cheese I felt like Gordon Ramsay. After what felt like an eternity my pizza was finally ready. As I bit into a piece of my pizza I thought I was in heaven, by far the best pizza I've ever tasted, no offence to Sergios and dominos.

Boogie boarding at camp with my friends was Awesome with a capital A. After catching a few waves the air filled with laughter and excitement. The semi-big waves crashed onto the shore, creating the perfect conditions for us to ride them. Each time I caught a wave, the rush of water beneath my board sent a surge of adrenaline through me, while my friends had the biggest smile on their face. We spent the entire afternoon racing each other, diving into the refreshing ocean, and enjoying the warm sun on our backs. Everyone had an amazing time.

We did many more things and I loved every minute of camp. Overall it was miraculous. I wish we could do it all over again!

Giant Steps Autism Awareness Fundrais

On Sunday the 18th of May, Fredrick, one of our students, climbed 54 floors of the Rialto Tower while raising funds for Giant Steps, a school for children and adults on the Autism Spectrum. The fundraising is still active till next weekend. One of the perks of the event was he also got the opportunity to meet Jordy de Goey from AFL Collingwood (for the fans of the pies!).

We applaud Fredrick and his family for their efforts to raise awareness and funds for such a wonderful cause.
