Term 2 Gardening
The new season is slowly bringing changes to the garden after an unusually long dry Summer. Students are collecting leaves to make hot composts, and learning about the microorganisms that create the heat in the decomposition process. To read more about what composting system will work for you at home, see the Ceres link here.

Over the next month, the garden will be transformed in to the Winter garden. Seedlings being planted are kale, broccoli, cauliflower, beetroot, carrot, lettuce, and peas.
One activity students are enjoying is “Chop and Chat” where old dry plant material is cut up into smaller pieces in order to decompose in the compost quicker.
A big thank you yet again to the Cooray family (Aidan & Kellen) for looking after the chickens in the holidays. The chickens continue to lay so many eggs!!! We are always looking for helpers with the chickens in the holidays so please contact the office if you are interested.
