Primary School Library Opens!
Mrs Natalie Spears and Mrs Tammy Babcock
We’re thrilled to announce the grand opening of our brand-new primary school library!
Our students were absolutely buzzing with joy as they stepped into the new library for the very first time! Their eyes lit up at the colourful displays, inviting reading areas, and the wonderful world of books waiting to be explored. This could not have been possible without our incredible parent volunteers. They have spent hours sorting, covering and labelling books! We are so grateful for your involvement and support.
Year 4 Excursion | Kaarta Koomba Kings Park
Ms Allen | Year 4 Teacher
Our Year 4 students recently visited Kaarta Koomba (Kings Park) for a guided walk through the beautiful Western Australian Botanic Garden, which showcases thousands of native plants found across Noongar Country. They explored how Noongar knowledge and Western science work together to care for Boodja (Country) and support a sustainable future.
As part of the excursion, students walked across the glass bridge, where they looked out over the Derbarl Yerrigan (Swan River) and learnt about the cultural and spiritual significance of Kaarta Koomba to the Noongar people.
They used the Noongar seasonal calendar and the AIATSIS map to deepen their understanding of Noongar Country and identified plants such as balga (grass tree), moodjar (WA Christmas tree), mangart (wattle), and marri, learning how honkey (marri sap) was used as traditional medicine.
WACSSA AFL Carnival
Mr Da Silva | Primary Health & Physical Education Teacher
On Friday, 16 May, a group of our Year 5/6 Boys competed at the WACSSA AFL Carnival. Our team showed determination and a never-give-up attitude, no matter the score. It was a great opportunity for our students to grow, support their teammates, and push themselves with pride and perseverance. Well done to all the boys who participated, and a special thank you to Miss Hannah Girling and Miss Toni Hartley for your support, scoring and coaching throughout the day!
Year 3 Excursion | Scitech
Mrs Barlow | Year 3 Teacher
Our Year 3s have been exploring Earth and Space! To bring their learning to life, they took an exciting trip to Scitech! Highlights included the "It's Elementary!" show, where fire, air, and water combined for some explosive reactions — all while learning about the elements and the periodic table.
The Planetarium experience was truly out of this world — giving our students a breathtaking view of the universe and a close-up look at the planets like never before!
What an unforgettable way to make Science come alive!
TKC Rocks the National Times Table Competition
We are incredibly excited to announce that The King’s College came 20th place in Western Australia Rocks - a times tables competition run by the internationally renowned, award-winning app and learning platform, Times Tables Rock Stars. Western Australia Rocks required children to correctly answer as many multiplication and division questions as possible, to give their class and school the best chance of winning.
The competition was fierce, with 7,210,964 questions answered collectively by 11,812 students from more than 181 schools and 816 classes around the country!
Our school stats were astonishing too. On average, our top class answered 1,006 questions correctly per student, with the best-performing student answering an amazing 16,096 questions correctly in total. I am sure you will appreciate that those statistics are out of this world!
The Kindness Challenge
Miss Girling | Year 6 Teacher
During Week 4, our Year 6 students stepped into a full-day journey of compassion, curiosity, and connection as part of The Kindness Challenge led by Catherine Kolomyjec.
From exploring what it truly means to notice, connect, and act with kindness, to writing heartfelt letters of gratitude and creating a legacy pledge for the Class of 2025 — every moment was a step towards building a more empathetic community. Highlights included silent disco fun, delivering ‘Little Boxes of Happiness’ to show appreciation to staff members, deep reflections in the ‘Forest exercise’ and some very thoughtful post-it notes!
Our Year 6 students shared the following thoughts about what they learnt or enjoyed:
'I learnt about the neurotransmitters in our brain and found it so interesting learning about the way they control our emotions. Catherine taught it in such a cool and visually helpful way.’ – Rosie C
‘Catherine shared really interesting stories about people receiving letters from courageous kids and how it affected their emotions.’ – William J
‘I loved learning about kindness and how we can all be kind in a variety of ways!’ – Alex A
‘I really enjoyed how Catherine taught us the RAIN strategy to help us deal with our big emotions, so we can try to recognise, allow, investigate and nurture our emotions and feelings.’ – Dom H
‘The best part of the day was when we got to write our letters of gratitude. I loved writing a letter to Mrs Watson to say thank you for everything she did for me – I hope she really loved it because it made me feel so good when I wrote it.’ – Ekam K
Here’s to a future led by kindness. #KindnessChallenge #CompassionInAction
