Respect at Work

Daniela Dlugocz | Careers Teacher/ VET Co-ordinator

We were delighted to welcome the Workplace Respect Project Team from Circle Green Community Legal to our college.  They educated our Year 11 and 12 students about respect at work, focusing on workplace sexual harassment—a critical issue for this age group, as 15-17-year-olds are, statistically, in Australia,  the most likely to experience it.

The session covered what workplace sexual harassment is, how to respond if it occurs, and ways to support those targeted. Students engaged in interactive discussions, learning about the prevalence, impact, and their rights at work. Importantly, they also learned how to be active bystanders. This incursion raised awareness and equipped students with practical tools to apply their new knowledge in real-life situations.

Youth Worship Summit

Marvin Asuncion | Music Captain

The Youth Worship Summit was a fun one-day event where Christian schools came together to share ideas, develop their musical gifts, make new connections and be touched and changed by the presence of God.

The King’s College Creative Club, with the great help of Ps Michael and Ms Yvonne, had the privilege of hosting over one-hundred staff and students from Kingsway Christian College, Emmanuel Christian College, Kolbe Catholic College, Fremantle Christian College, Mandurah Baptist College and Peter Carnley Anglican Community School.

My role in the event as a Music Captain consisted of leading and hosting the event, hosting games, sharing about how we run Creative Club and chapel worship, praying over schools and youth of the next generation, assisting in running the workshops and making sure everyone was good and having fun.

Creative Club served in different aspects from the worship team, ushering, catering, hosting, and just serving everyone there, and most importantly God. A highlight from the day was just really seeing the heart and hunger this next generation has for God. Seeing all these schools coming together and helping one another and worshiping our God, really encouraged me.

Continuing on with my leadership role in Creative Club, I really want to encourage our students to not be ashamed of being a follower of Christ and to continue to use our God- given talents to worship God and help others to do the same!

Cooking up a Storm!

Mrs Gillian Hills | Food Technologies Teacher

On Thursday, 8th May, our talented Year 11 students truly cooked up a storm at the much-anticipated Parent Dinner Night. As part of their Local Produce assignment, students took full creative control—designing not only delicious meals but also the overall dining experience.

Each group crafted unique table settings, thoughtfully designed menus, and served impressive main courses and desserts, all showcasing locally sourced ingredients. The evening was a celebration of both culinary skill and creativity, with proud parents and staff enjoying a night to remember. Congratulations to all Year 11 students for their hard work and professionalism—you’ve certainly set a high bar for future events!

Year 8 HASS sent to Prison!

On 15 May 2025, the Year 8 cohort attended a HASS excursion to Fremantle Prison. It was an incredibly informative and entertaining experience.  Throughout the day, we saw Moondyne Joe’s cell, the churches, the female and male prison areas, the gallows, the kitchen and laundry area, the whipping post and much more. And along with seeing all the different snippets of history, we also learnt lots of fascinating information.

Along with lots of work and knowledge, there were funny moments.  At one point, the guide asked the students what type of person would have to be alone in a cell, and one student gave a hilarious answer, which the guide claimed she’d ‘never heard something as funny and accurate.’

This excursion was an enjoyable and interesting experience, and the knowledge and experience will stay with the students, I believe, into their futures.

Year 8 Social Rebounds!

Article by Frankie Scott | Year 8

On 15 May, the Year 8 cohort went to Rebound for our Term 2 social. It was a fantastic experience, and we made memories that will last a long time. We arrived at Rebound around 4 pm and from that moment on, we were bouncing around with our friends. During our time there, we played multiple intense games of dodgeball, made several failed (and a few successful) attempts at the climbing wall, and spent time in the basketball section, seeing who could jump the furthest on the long jump. There was also plenty of flipping—and quite a few belly and back flops—on the various trampolines. Some of the teachers even joined in on the bouncing fun!

After all the activity, and thoroughly wearing ourselves out, we each enjoyed a pizza of our own choosing. There’s something special about sitting down with friends, sharing stories and laughter over a slice of pizza, and just soaking in the warm, communal atmosphere.

Even though we had already spent a long day walking around Fremantle Prison, it was amazing to see how much energy we still had when placed in the middle of a trampoline park. Memories were made that day, and one I look back on fondly.
