Principal's Message

From the Principal

Dear Families of Our Lady Star of the Sea,

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope each of you enjoyed a restful and joyful Easter break. It has been wonderful to see our students return with enthusiasm, ready to embrace a new term of learning, growing, and walking together in faith.

This term holds many special moments for our school community, and as we begin, I would like to take a moment to honour and celebrate one of the most significant occasions in our calendar: Mother’s Day

I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who made this morning's celebrations so special. A particular thank you goes to Mrs Lindsay-Thus for her perfect organisation, Year 2 for the reflective Liturgy, and Mrs Trovato and the choir for their beautiful singing.

A Message for Mothers and Mother Figures

Mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and all those who care with a mother’s heart—your selfless love, gentle strength, and unwavering presence shape our children’s lives in the most profound ways. Whether it’s the quiet support at homework time, the comforting hug after a hard day, or the whispered prayers at bedtime, your role is truly sacred.

Let us take time this weekend to reflect on the incredible blessing you are to our families and community.

A Mother’s Day Prayer

Loving God, We thank You for the gift of mothers and all who love with a mother’s heart. Bless them with strength, patience, and joy. May they always know how deeply they are loved and appreciated. Guide them with Your wisdom and surround them with Your peace. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our Lady Star of the Sea, Pray for Us.

Wishing all mothers and mother figures a joyful and blessed Mother’s Day!

A new Pope

White smoke rose from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel and we share in the joy of the Catholic Church worldwide as we welcome our new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV. Following the recent Conclave in Rome, the first American pope was elected to lead the Catholic Church.

We pray for Pope Pope Leo XIV as he begins his important ministry as the successor of Pope Francis and the shepherd of the universal Church. May the Holy Spirit guide him with wisdom, strength, and love as he serves God's people.

As a Catholic school, this is a unique opportunity for our students to witness the living tradition of the Church in action. Throughout the term, we will have opportunities to include reflections on the role of the Pope, the meaning of leadership in our faith, and how we too are called to serve.

Let us pray for our new Pope:

“Lord, source of eternal life and truth, give to your shepherd a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care, may he, as successor to the Apostle Peter and vicar of Christ, build your Church into a sacrament of unity, love, and peace for all the world.  Amen.”

Looking Ahead

Term 2 brings a full and exciting calendar—learning milestones, school liturgies, sporting events, and opportunities for reflection and service. Let us approach it all with open hearts and a renewed commitment to our shared mission: to nurture young minds and hearts in the light of Christ.

May the joy of Easter continue to inspire us, and may this term be filled with growth, kindness, and grace.

God Bless,

Mrs Maria Rose
