MOTHERS DAY ACTIVITY

On Wednesday, our classrooms came alive with colour, creativity, and connection as we celebrated Mother’s Day with some very special guests. It was such a treat to welcome our mums and special friends into our learning spaces.

The morning was filled with joyful activities; students painted beautiful portraits of their mums, carefully crafted flower bouquets, and made thoughtful pop-up cards by hand. Laughter echoed through the rooms during maths games, and there was plenty of excitement as students worked on Cartesian planes, with a fun game of Battleships as a reward for finishing.

It was a lovely way to show appreciation for the important people in our lives, and we’re so grateful to everyone who joined us. Thank you for sharing your time, stories, and smiles with us—we loved having you here.

YEAR 2 EXCURSION | Melbourne Symphony Orchestra

This week, our Year 2 students had a truly spellbinding experience as they ventured into the city to see the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra perform live.

The concert, led by the energetic and enchanting Dr Richard Vaudrey, took students on a magical journey through music. With pieces like Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter by John Williams, Danse macabre by Saint-Saëns, and The Firebird Suite by Stravinsky, the performance brought the world of orchestral music to life in the most exciting way.

Students were captivated by the way instruments became characters, and how different sounds were used like spells to change the mood and feeling of the music. Dr Vaudrey even demonstrated the magic of conducting, showing how a wave of the baton could transform an entire orchestra.

It was a rich and immersive musical experience, full of wonder and imagination. We’re sure our young audience members left feeling inspired—and maybe just a little bit enchanted!

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AT MILGAT

At our school, students have the opportunity to actively contribute to the school community through a range of leadership and interest-based groups. These experiences help students develop responsibility, teamwork, and a sense of agency.

Indigenous Perspectives Club

This group supports students to learn about and share Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. Students take part in projects and discussions that promote awareness, respect, and inclusion across the school.

Environmental Representatives

Each class has a student representative who joins the Environmental Rep Meetings. These students work together to lead sustainability initiatives such as recycling, reducing waste, and caring for our school grounds.

Junior School Council (JSC)

JSC gives students a voice in school decisions. Representatives from each class meet regularly to discuss ideas, organise fundraising events, and support school improvement projects.

These groups are a great way for students to make a real impact, while building confidence and leadership skills.

ANNUAL REPORT NOW AVAILABLE Available

Our school’s Annual Report provides a summary of our achievements, goals, and key data from the past year. It reflects our progress toward our School Strategic Plan and highlights areas of strength and growth. The report is now available on our school website for families to view.
