Year 10 excursion to the Australian International Academy (Islamic school)

Recently our Year 10 Scripture students had the opportunity to visit the Australian International Academy. We were warmly welcomed by all the students and teachers. We got into little groups and introduced ourselves to each other. Students from both schools got to share about their religion. Judah F, Olivia and Jacob answered questions asked by Mr Wynne that explained some of the views in the Christian faith. Some of the things we learned about the Muslim faith were fasting, different prayers at different times during the day and dietary restrictions. During our break time we observed that the boys went and played soccer, basketball and volleyball while the girls sat and talked with each other and it was kind of similar to how it is with us at breaks. We really enjoyed talking with the people from the school and realising that they were just regular teenagers like us. It was helpful to learn about another faith from the perspective of people who are part of the Muslim community. We were very grateful to be able to have the opportunity to go there and talk about the difference in our faiths.
