Events and Save the Date

Annual Strings and Orchestra Evening - Tuesday 29 July 2025 - Alexander Hall - 6.00-7.30pm

Join us for an evening celebrating the progress and dedication of our string musicians from Years 1–12. Performances will include:

  • Pamela Whyte Strings
  • Junior Cello Ensemble
  • Junior Strings (Years 3–4 & 5–6)
  • Dulcie Holland Orchestra
  • Tango Orchestra
  • Kambala String Quartets (Junior, Intermediate & Senior)
  • Kambala Chamber Orchestra

The evening opens with the Senior Orchestra and concludes with a spectacular combined performance featuring over 120 students.

Important Details for Performers:

  • School-day rehearsal: Junior students involved must bring their instrument and music for a daytime run-through in Alexander Hall. Class teachers will share the schedule.
  • Arrival time: 5.15pm for tuning and setup
  • Uniform: Full winter school uniform

Symphonic Encounters Music Excursion for Years 3 - 6 - Sydney Opera House - Wednesday 30 July 2025

All students in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 will be attending a music excursion, Symphonic Encounters, on Wednesday 30 July. This will be a music education presentation by Mr Grandison (former Director of Music, Kambala)  alongside the Modést Orchestra conducted by Mr Karamanos. The concert  features music that highlights the various instruments and sections of the orchestra in a fun and informative way, with moving, singing, and creative activities offering paths into the rich colours, gestures and textures of orchestral music.

 

The performance of The Nutcracker Suite by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky will provide  immediately accessible and evocative music for young students from one of classical music’s best-loved composers. 

 

Date: Wednesday 30 July 2025

Time: 10.15am - 1.15am

Venue: Verbrugghen Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music

 

Uniform: Students must wear full winter school uniform, including blazers, panama hat and yellow ribbon. Blue jumpers may only be worn under blazers.  If students have Sport/PE timetabled Wednesday they  must bring their sport uniform in their sports bag.

 

Students will travel to the Conservatorium of Music by coach.Students will have an opportunity to eat their recess before boarding the buses at 10:15am. Students will be escorted from the Junior School to the front gates at the start of recess. 

 

Students will return to Kambala by 1:15pm for a short lunch prior to resuming normal classes

 

Supervising Staff:  Ms Carrard, Ms Davy, Mrs Benz and Mr Benz together with various Junior School Staff.

Massie House Sports Afternoon -  Friday 1 August 2025 - Kambala Oval - 12.30 - 2.30pm

Annual Wind and Jazz Band Evening - Friday 1 August 2025 - Alexander Hall - 6.00-7.30pm

We warmly invite families to join us for a special evening of music, featuring performances by the Tivoli Wind Ensemble, Kambala Stage Band and senior wind ensembles.

 

Date: Friday 1 August

Performer Arrival Time: 5:15pm

Concert Time: 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Venue: Alexander Hall

 

Performer Information:

All performers from the Tivoli Wind Ensemble and Kambala Stage Band are asked to bring their instruments to school on Friday for a technical run-through during the day.

Students must wear full winter school uniform.

Please deliver students for instrument tuning by 5:15pm to the 'A' classrooms located directly below the Alexander Hall.

Kambala Community Prayer Breakfast - Tuesday 5 August, 2025 - 7.30-8.15am - Tivoli Drawing Room

Kindergarten Speech Screening  - Thursday 7 -Friday 8 August 2025

Speech and Language screenings for our Kindergarten students will take place on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 August, 2025. A Speech and Language therapist will conduct brief assessments during school hours to help identify any areas needing further support.

If parents do not want their daughter screened, please opt out by completing THIS FORM.

 

The cost of this assessment is covered in the school levy. 

 

Parents will be contacted if follow-up is recommended.

Year 6 Write a Book in a Day Competition - Friday 8 August 2025

Write a Book in a Day is an exciting co-educational opportunity which involves teams of students in Year 6 from Kambala and The Scots College collaborating to write and illustrate a book in one day.  The Write a Book in a Day organisation collaborates with The Kids’ Cancer Project, an independent national charity, to raise funds for childhood cancer research. Students will have the opportunity to raise funds for The Kids’ Cancer Project.

Write a Book in a Day Competition

Date: Friday 8 August

Time: 7:45am - 3:45pm

Students will be dismissed at 3:45pm for Tivoli carline, buses or extra-curricular activities.

What to bring:

  • Recess and lunch, including snacks and water (there is no access to the canteen on this day)

  • Charged laptop and pencil case with coloured pencils

  • Panama hat for break times
