Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation. Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025. We will directly email a link to all families on Monday.All families are invited to participate in the survey.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home. Please reach out to your child’s teacher, or the school directly for survey guides in your language.

Our school uses the survey results to plan for school operations into the future. We thank all families for their feedback and support. Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.

School Review

Every four years Victorian Department of Education Schools are required to go through a School Review process. This process involves the school's leadership team working with an external Reviewer, two Challenge Partners and the School Council President, to review the progress of the school over the last four years and to make plans for the school for the four years to come.

2025 is a year of School Review for Rangeview and this process has begun officially this week. On Tuesday our Reviewer - Carol Every - met with Jo Braden (Principal Bayswater Primary School), Emma Thompson (Assistant Principal Narrarrang Primary School), Simon Davies (School Council President) and the school's leadership team, to begin this process. Whole school data was analysed and initial classroom observations were held. The school was given much positive feedback around both.

We will be moving into Fieldwork days in the coming weeks and we are calling for parent/carer volunteers to join focus groups to meet with members of the panel. We will also have focus groups of staff and students. We will be offering parent / carer focus groups at two different times;

  • 9am -10am Tuesday 26th August
  • 2.30pm - 3.30pm Wednesday 27th August.

If you are able to attend one of these times please indicate this with the links below. Interpreters can be organised.

Pupil Free Curriculum Day - Building Thinking Classrooms

On Wednesday 13th August we held a Pupil free Curriculum Day and all of our teaching staff attended an in person seminar with Professor Peter Liljedahl. Prof Liljedahl is a professor of mathematics education at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. His book, Building Thinking Classrooms, is a framework to teaching mathematics in a completely new - evidence based way.

Sparked by observing teachers struggle to implement rich mathematics tasks to engage students in deep thinking, Peter Liljedahl has translated his 15 years of research into a set of 14 optimal practices for thinking that create an ideal setting for deep mathematics learning to occur. When combined, these unique research-based practices create the optimal conditions for learner-centered, student-owned deep mathematical thinking and learning, and have the power to transform mathematics classrooms like never before.

Rangeview has been teaching using this BTC Framework in our Specialist Mathematics Classrooms for some time. We will begin using the model for mathematics in all classrooms by Term 4.
