Principal's News

Dear Families,
It has been wonderful to welcome our children back for Term 3 who have settled quickly into their routines. There is a calm and focused buzz of learning across all classrooms. We’re looking forward to a productive and engaging term ahead.
This term is packed with exciting events and important milestones in our school calendar. Highlights include the Sacrament of Confirmation, our school production, the Science Fair, Father’s Day celebrations, our School Review, District Athletics, and the School Championship Netball Tournament. We are also beginning preparations for our Year 3/4 Camp, which will be held in October; always a much-anticipated experience!
NAPLAN
We are pleased to share that our recent NAPLAN results reflect continued growth across learning areas. They affirm the effectiveness of our explicit approach to learning and teaching, which focuses on clear, structured and sequential teaching, with regular checks for understanding and review of content. Teachers have viewed test results and will continue to engage with data to further inform our teaching. We will provide a more detailed analysis via the newsletter in coming weeks. We thank you for your continued support at home and look forward to building on this positive progress together.
MACSeye
Thank you to families who have shared their feedback regarding the MACSeye OSHC program. Unfortunately, the program has not been what we would have expected, nor what our children truly deserve. I have followed up via the appropriate channels, and Luisa, the Area Manager was in attendance Thursday and Friday afternoon. I expect action will now be taken to ensure the program better reflects our shared expectations. While OSHC is not directly managed by Holy Rosary, it is an integral part of our students’ experience, and I will continue to advocate as needed.
Luisa has included an update to families later in the newsletter.
There are two contacts for MACSeye.

Building and Maintenance
We continue to work behind the scenes to address some of our long-standing roof and drainage issues. Further steps are being taken to resolve these issues. We will also undertake additional work on the gate, including a soft closer.
Classes 2026
We have filled two classes for Prep 2026 and we now have a waiting list. Families should have received an email last Friday advising them of our orientation program and then relevant dates for the new year. We have some places available in other year levels. Please advise the office if your P-Yr 5 child will not be continuing at HR next year. This helps us to organise class structures and staffing so your advance notice is much appreciated.
Fun Lunch Friday
Food served at the canteen on Fridays is considered a treat and therefore, our policy is that children can purchase two items; one food and one drink item only. Some students have been asking for free items. This is inappropriate. Students are clear about our expectations. It would be appreciated if you could reinforce these points at home.
District Athletics
Best wishes to the 43 students representing Holy Rosary School at the District Athletics this Friday at Aberfeldie Athletics track. Run fast, jump high, and give it your all; we’ll be cheering you on!
15 August: Professional Learning for Staff
We have an upcoming Professional Learning Day focused on the teaching of spelling, led by Marian Nicolazzo from PETAA (Primary English Teaching Association Australia). We are looking forward to deepening our understanding in this area and applying our learning to support your children’s literacy development.
MACSeye will be available on the day to support families requiring care. Bookings can be made through the usual channels.
