5. Business Arising

Term 2 Activities – Wrap-up/Reflections

• Mother’s Day Stall A positive event with sufficient helpers to ensure smooth running. Feedback noted on how to reduce disappointment for infant students. Suggestions included sharing options with parents in advance or having teachers help students pre-select options (e.g., Choice A, B, or C) to manage availability. This will be trialed at the upcoming Father’s Day stall.
  • Pancake Day A generous amount of batter was donated by families. Enough volunteers were available, contributing to a successful day.
  • Pie Drive Very positive feedback received, especially regarding the ease of using Compass for ordering, sorting, and payment transfer.
  • Athletics Carnival Canteen Feedback from staff and parents (including lollies) was positive. It was a fun and successful day, with many thanks to the wonderful volunteers.
    • Future consideration: limit student helpers to Year 6 only.
    • Include gluten-free bread on the order list (this year it was kindly donated by Bec Johnson).

Term 3 Activity – Grandparents Day (Wrap-up) Appreciation expressed to the school. The “Adopt-a-Grandparent” initiative was well-received and had a positive impact on the students involved.

6. Correspondence In/Out – Natasha Healy (Secretary)

Nothing to report.

Facebook Page – Michelle Dury (Vice President)The page is doing well and serves as a useful platform to share events. Fewer followers compared to the previous page. Teachers are supportive of sharing this link in class updates. The committee aims for more frequent posts to increase engagement.

7. Principal’s Report – Peter Flynn

  • Staffing Updates
    • Heidie Nebauer replaces Jenna Hall in 1H as Jenna moves into a support role.
    • Olivia Jones replaces Grace Maher in 4M. Olivia was previously an EA in the class and has just completed her teaching qualifications.
    • Lauren Fisher joins in a full-time RFF position until the end of the year. These placements were made possible through support from the CSO and its proactive recruitment efforts in the Tamworth cluster.
  • Internships A partnership with Notre Dame University enables St Nick’s to host interns completing their final 10-week placements in classes 5H, 6H, and 1P. The aim is to encourage future teachers to consider rural and regional placements.
  • Facilities Welcome to David Pollock (Grounds and Maintenance). He brings valuable experience and has already made a positive impact.
  • NAPLAN Data Comparative data was shared and discussed, with generally positive outcomes. The PD days held at the start of term provided a useful opportunity to use this data as a diagnostic tool for planning.

8. Treasurer’s Report – Jessica Redden (Treasurer)

  • Discussion Points:
    • Year 6 shirts: PT&F to cover 50% of the cost.
    • Grandparents Day and Athletics Carnival staff lunch costs to balance each other – all agreed.
