A note from Mr Jackson

456 Market Place
Tuesday 1 July
All who visited the Market Place stalls in the 4/5/6 Learning Area on Tuesday were wow’ed by the products and learning experiences of students. Parents were shoulder to shoulder eager to grab a bargain. Students have focussed on the economic curriculum outcomes this term, exploring markets, design, finance and advertising. It was great to see the thought and learning that underpinned each student’s experience.
Chess Competition
Wednesday 2 July
It was great to have so many emerging Grand Masters at the ChessMates Chess School Competition on Wednesday. In a quick brainstorm at the conclusion of the event students used words such as ‘challenged’, ‘excited’ and ‘energised’ to describe their experiences. A special thanks to ChessMates who pulled together the day. Well done to all who participated in the Junior Section and Senior Section as well as those who received medals:
Top Three Juniors: Austin, Keller and Leo
Top Three Seniors: Rose, Ray and Rex
Quantum Visit
Thursday 3 July
Great to see students and teachers in the 3/4 Learning Area visit Quantum today. We are fortunate to live and learn on the doorstep of Quantum, the centre for excellence in Victoria for STEM education. Students in 4/5/6 Learning Area were challenged and inspired earlier in the year and I am sure that the experience will be received well in the 3/4 Learning Area.
Active Travel To School
Friday 4 July
Join staff and other families at the four different travel points on Friday at 8:30am. It is a chance to finish the term with a healthy focus and promote physical activity. FORPS have discovered a number of pedometers (unfortunately with flat batteries!) in a recent cleanup. We will be distributing the pedometers to students, along with stickers and fruit to all the active travellers! A special thanks to the collaboration from Banyule Council that has helped in the supply of fruit!
Prep’s Dress Up
Wednesday 2 July
The Prep area took on a zoo-like look on Wednesday as students came in a range of outfits celebrating the characters used to highlight sounds taught throughout the year. A parade in the morning saw queens, goats, crocodiles, jellyfish and many more creatures! A visit from two ‘Milo' the Monkey’s after recess caused a stir! A fun day indeed.
End of Term Assembly
Friday 4 July
This term’s final assembly will be held on Friday at 1:45pm. With the weather we have experienced this week, is most likely to be held in the hall. This will be a chance to celebrate our Students of the Week, hear from students about their classroom learning, acknowledge the Positive Behaviours occurring in the school and recognise the first semester Sustainability and Junior School Council Representatives.
Early Finish This Term
Friday 4 July
A special reminder that the final dismissal will occur at 2:30pm. Please ensure children are picked up promptly. Supervision in the yard concludes at 2:45pm.
Three Way Conferences
From Week 1 Term 3
Three Way Conferences will be held in the first two weeks of term. The times and days teachers are available are described in each class' booking process. The primary days of booking are listed below. This availability of teachers may vary slightly for individual classes.
Wednesday 23 July (Week 1)
Wednesday 30 July (Week 2)
Thursday 31 July (Week 2)
When making bookings, please ensure that there are at least 15 minutes between bookings for siblings. Students should attend the meeting along with parents. If parents wish to discuss specific matters with the classroom teacher they should make this known at the start of the meeting to ensure time is allocated towards the end of the conference.
The Three Way Conferences include parents/carers, teacher and the student. This approach is used consistently throughout the whole school and provides a forum for teachers, students and parents to acknowledge student progress and achievement. The Three Way Conference allows for shared responsibility of student learning, assessment and reporting, while strengthening communication channels with parents about student’s learning and progress. It critically involves students in self-assessment and allows them to take responsibility for their own learning as they work toward and achieve curriculum outcomes.
Returning with a Bang
Keep an eye on the range of events that are coming up in the initial week of our return.

2026 Prep Enrolments are finalised.
The assembly will be held in the morning to celebrate learning throughout the Rosanna Primary School NAIDOC Week. We hope to have members of the Wurundjeri WoiWurrung Corporation share a special Welcome to Country. More information to follow.
