Work Experience

Genni Smith | Work Experience Coordinator

Last semester, the first three Year 10 Careers classes took part in Work Experience Week — an invaluable opportunity for students to step out of the classroom and into the world of work. Whether placed in local businesses, schools, or essential services, students explored a wide range of industries, developed confidence, and gained real insight into possible future career pathways.

It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and hear the overwhelmingly positive feedback from employers across our region. A heartfelt thank you to all the local employers who generously gave their time and support to help guide our students on their journey.

What’s next for Semester 2 Careers students?

Students enrolled in a Year 10 Careers class in Semester 2 will soon begin preparing for their own Work Experience Week, running from 15–19 September. Now is the perfect time to start thinking about where you'd like to go! Students will work with their Careers teacher and the Work Experience Coordinator to arrange placements. Please note: all placements must be finalised by Wednesday, 28 August, giving us about six weeks to get everything in place.

Additionally, any Year 10 students not attending school camps during this week who are interested in completing work experience are encouraged to speak with Genni Smith to explore their options.

Applications Now Open: Melbourne Work Experience Trip

We’re excited to announce that applications are now open for the Melbourne Work Experience Trip, also taking place in the week of 15–19 September. This incredible opportunity is open to a small group of Year 10 students who will gain professional work experience in Melbourne, while also building independence, confidence, and city-living skills.

With travel, accommodation, and meals subsidised thanks to generous support from the Boundless Foundation, this program is especially designed to support regional students in accessing high-quality workplace opportunities in the city.

Students interested in applying should speak with Genni Smith, our Work Experience Coordinator, as soon as possible for more information and an application form.
