Cam Bruce & Belle Healey, Year 7 Coordinators
On behalf of the Year 7 team at Horsham College, we hope all families enjoyed the break and have returned energised for a busy Term 3.
Semester 2 means new beginnings. Students are encouraged to review their reports and reflect on what they can improve or continue doing well. Interim reports will be here before we know it, so now is a great time to establish positive habits and consistently demonstrate the school’s values.
Subject Selection Day
Subject Selection Day will take place on Wednesday 6th August. Please note: classes are cancelled on this day. Parents and students are asked to make an appointment to come to school and select subjects for Year 8 in 2026.
Last week, students received a subject selection booklet and a letter outlining how the day will run. Please ensure you read the instructions, checklist, and the relevant Year 8 sections of the booklet before Subject Selection Day.
Year 6 visits to Horsham College
Students from Horsham primary schools will be visiting the College as part of their transition to secondary school. This event requires our current Year 7 students to remain at home on one day. We will not require the following students on the following dates:
Uniform
With the colder weather setting in, we remind parents/guardians that students out of uniform must bring a signed note to school. These students will be issued a blue slip by a Year Level Coordinator.
Mobile Phones
Another reminder that mobile phones are expected to be always kept in student’s lockers throughout the day. Any student caught with their phone will be issued with an after-school detention.
Do It for Dolly Day
On the last day of Term 2, the school celebrated Do It for Dolly Day, an event focused on raising awareness about bullying and promoting kindness.
The Year 7 SRC team did a fantastic job organising a space near the Year 7 locker area with music and a Kindness Wall, where students could leave uplifting messages for peers who might be feeling down.
Thank you to all the Year 7 students who participated and wore blue in honour of the day.
Class Spotlight – 7C Home Eco
In the final Home Eco class of Term 2, 7C made vanilla cupcakes. Students learned how to safely use an electric mixer to apply the creaming method and followed recipe instructions to successfully bake their cupcakes.
