Parent Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking the feedback of our families. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. The survey is sent to 35% of our families, from a randomly generated sample. If you receive the survey invitation, we strongly encourage you to complete it. If you have any questions, please get in touch with the office.

Don't Miss: Art Trail & Book Fair

Please make sure you have set aside Wednesday 27th August, from 3:30 – 6:00pm to come and visit the Art Trail. As always, it will be an incredible showcase of your children's talents and a chance to enjoy and celebrate that of other students across the school.

Held simultaneously will be our Book Fair for 2025 in the Library.

Please come along and enjoy the art, stay for a sausage and then browse and buy some exciting new books for home (or get in early for Christmas).

Battle of the Bands

Congratulations to our parent band 'Kiss n Go' on their brilliant performance at the Beachside Battle of the Bands.

Our school sold the most tickets (over 100!), a wonderful testament to the commitment you all have to any and every event that is hosted, seeing us win a $500 voucher for the school. Whilst we didn't take out the event, a huge shout out is deserved by the parents who've been rehearsing here at school weekly for many months. Congratulations to Trav Johnstone (Guitar & Vocals), Jane Holroyd (Keys & Vocals),

Pete Abriani Jensen (Bass Guitar), Meera Aurora (Tambourine & Vocals), Nick Brown (Drums) and Rory Osman (Guitar & Vocals), who alongside Jane worked through much of the organisation. We can't wait for their assembly performance in the coming weeks!

Battle of the Boots

On the 'Battle of' theme, our annual football game against St Mary's (Battle of the Boots) is coming up on Saturday 23rd August. Make sure you get down to Boss James Oval for a 2:00pm start to support our school, as well as the Very Special Kids Foundation. Go Hampton!

Boot Scootin' Parent Night

Parent events are always a highlight on the calendar and according to the stories and feedback, it seems the recent Boot Scootin’ Parent Function was certainly that. Beyond the fun, the night was also an enormous success in raising almost $12,000 for the school. A huge debt of gratitude is owed to Carlo, Alana and Natalie for their organisation of such a successful evening. Many thanks also go to everyone who contributed and participated, and to the businesses that donated goods and services for the event.

50km for 50 Days!

It seems extraordinary endurance feats are contagious amongst our parent community. After Stu Place cycling over 15,000kms last year to raise funds for much needed medical research, Mark Carpenter, is attempting to run 50kms in 50 days to raise funds for the Mirabel Foundation. You may recall he completed an ultra marathon (100km) last year for the same cause, and now is seeking to raise $50,000 to support children whose parent's lives are affected by addiction. Please see the flyer below for all the details of how you can get behind him. We look forward to Mark joining us for some school activities to further promote this effort.

Kitchen Garden Changes

Our garden area (near the Snack Shack) continues to take shape, evolving almost weekly. As above, we are in the process of having fences and gates installed so that the area can continue to be enjoyed and used by classes as well as students at play times, whilst being able to be secured after hours to protect it.

A massive thanks also goes to our wonderful volunteers Kim and David (Evie in FC) for their recent work in painting the retaining wall over a series of days so that hanging plants can be installed shortly. Thanks as well to the many parents that helped to shovel 6sq m of soil into the area post this to allow for significant planting out of these beds, which used to simply be run off from our sandpit; what a transformation it will be!

Our Grade 3s continue to work in partnership with Roxy (Posca Artist) to create murals for the paling fence to lift and theme the area for future years. Their design is incredible and the finished products are coming along brilliantly.

Sporting Successes

Division Soccer Champions

A huge congratulations is deserved by both our Girls and Boys Soccer Teams who took out the Division Championships for soccer recently. Both teams were undefeated throughout the rounds and finals and have qualified for the Regional Championships upcoming. Whilst we have won and made State Finals many times, this is the first time both teams have progressed to this level, which is an outstanding result.

State Gridiron Championships

HPS participated in the State Gridiron Championships last week for the first time. The team, made up of Grade 5 and 6 boys and girls had not played a competitive game before the event; however performed incredibly well to progress to the final without losing a game. They unfortunately lost a close game by 6 points against last year’s National Champions to finish runners-up. This was a phenomenal effort and I congratulate all students, thank the parents for their commitment to training and Rob for supporting them with coaching throughout.
