This term’s major Inquiry unit explores the fascinating relationship between the Earth, Sun, and Moon, and how our actions can influence the health and sustainability of our planet. A key focus will be on sustainable practices, such as those promoted through the Kitchen Garden Project.
Students will investigate the Earth’s structure, including the poles and equator, and deepen their understanding of natural phenomena such as eclipses, the seasons, and the phases and movement of the Moon. They will explore how these celestial patterns influence plant growth, seasonal cycles, and why certain plants flourish at specific times of the year or in particular regions.
In addition, students will examine the importance of soil quality and the impact of erosion on plant life and natural landmarks. This unit will help students make meaningful connections between environmental science and sustainable living practices.
