It's hard to believe we are already at the mid-point of Term 3. Our students continue to show tremendous growth academically, socially and emotionally. Literacy
This term, students will be building on their literacy skills through our novel study of Wonder. We are exploring new concepts and continuing to grow as independent and curious learners. Students are being exposed to a variety of vocabulary, examining relationships, experiencing the story through multiple perspectives, comparing and contrasting characters perceptions of themselves and others perspectives of themselves, making connections to the characters experiences. Students will practise drafting a paragraph response that uses evidence from the text. The paragraph outline will include topic sentence, supporting details and evidence from the text.
Numeracy
We are focussing on rounding numbers with more than two decimal places and writing the expanding form to three decimal places to deepen our understanding of place value and renaming decimals to solve problems. In Shape we are learning to describe and perform rotations and reflections of shapes.
Inquiry
Students are delving into the world of democracy; they will learn about the values of Australian democracy and the key features of the electoral process. They will learn about the responsibilities of the three levels of government.
Wellbeing
Students will be developing the Habits of Mind; Persisting and Thinking and Communicating with Clarity and Precision. They will be exploring character strengths, developing a gratitude journal and discover the benefits of positive affirmations.

Bullying No Way! – National Week of Action This week the Year 5’s participated in the National Week of Action: Bullying No Way! They completed Tree of connectedness with the aim to build a shared understanding of what bullying is – and what it isn’t – so that we all start with the same knowledge and language. This is the first step in our year-long Bullying Prevention and Education program, which will include further learning sessions, an incursion, and special awareness days such as Daisy Day. It was a great opportunity for our students to learn, share, and take positive action towards creating a safe and respectful school community.
Congratulations to our award winners
