From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents,
Welcome back to Term 3. We hope you had an enjoyable & relaxing break. This term is a short one and we have many exciting learning experiences planned. Highlights of the term include our Artist In Residence program, First Communion, Walkathon, Book Week and St Bernard’s Day. Detailed information will be shared with you throughout the term.
Artist in Residence Program
Each year we work with an artist in their field of expertise to create a program for our students. This is a performing arts year and we are working with Circus Crew. Students will participate in a seven week program, with the weekly sessions culminating in a big top performance at the Coburg Town Hall on Thursday 18th September. So mark this date in your diary. More information regarding tickets etc will be shared in coming weeks. Sessions for our students will take place each Monday, beginning Monday 28th July.
Walkathon
Our annual Walkathon is being held on Friday 8th August. This is a huge event as a fundraiser and fun for the students. Information from the BPC will be sent home this week and we encourage you to support this event, by getting as many sponsors as you can. Permission forms MUST be signed and returned by next Friday 1st August, to allow students to participate and all students are expected to join the walk. There are amazing prizes to be won, together with our annual trophy. The trophy is awarded to the grade that raises the most money on average.
Students walk the blocks of the school, Patterson Street, Sheffield Street, Barrow Street and Walsh Street with parents acting as marshalls. If you are available, we are still needing some volunteers. Please see the sign up form on the BPC page.
We begin at 2:30pm and walk as many laps as we can until 3:15pm. There will undoubtedly be some every tired students and teachers that night! To add to the fun, each level chooses a theme. Classes will meet next week to decide on their themes, with this information then shared with you via Seesaw and the Bernardo. The students need to wear runners and be appropriately and comfortably dressed to participate in the walkathon.
Uniform
A reminder that all students whose hair is shoulder length or longer must have their hair tied up whilst are school. This uniform requirement is to minimise the spread of lice and nits. We ask for your support in this.
Barrow Street Resurfacing Works
We have been advised by the Council that Barrow Street between Walsh Street and Sheffield Street will be closed for resurfacing works this Thursday 24th July and Friday 25th July. Please be aware of this whilst accessing the school.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) & the Digital Generation Free webinar
The Catholic Network Australia (CNA) and Cyber Safety Project are hosting a free ‘AI & the Digital Generation’ webinar for parents and carers of primary and secondary school students on Monday 11 August 2025 from 7.30 to 8.00 pm. This is a particularly important and topical issue for all parents to learn about so we encourage you to attend.
Registration and further information are available via bit.ly/AICSP25.
