PDHPE

Term 3 in PDHPE
Stage 4
Year 7 have started the term well and are looking at positive relationships in theory lessons. They are exploring all types of relationships that they may come across in their day to day lives.
In practical lessons they have participated in Net and Court games. Exploring skills and sports such as Netball, Volleyball/Newcombe ball and Basketball. Some students have already displayed fantastic skills and engagement.
Year 8 are looking at cyber safety and cyberbullying. They are building skills in understanding and preventing cyberbullying and how to stay safe online in today's world.
In the practical component of PDHPE Year 8 are engaging in team sports and in particular, invasion games. These games are looking at skills of invading the opponent's space and successfully reaching a goal. Thes sports include Oz tag and soccer. Teamwork is a must in the chosen sports and just like the school motto “together we achieve” is a must in Year 8.
Stage 5
Year 9 PDHPE is exploring sexual health and all that goes with this. They have an assessment due on this topic in week 9. In the practical component of Year 9 They are also looking at a variety of invasion games leading into the second half of the term where they will be looking at modified sports with similar purposes. They will also be able to explore and create their own modified games.
Year 9 PASS (theory) are looking at extreme sports and ways that they can participate in physical activity safely. In practical students are deepening their knowledge and skills in a variety of contexts. They are using fundamental movement skills in a range of movements that may be unfamiliar to the students.
Year 10 have begun the term looking into road safety and ways students can remain safe on the roads.
On Tuesday week 3, over 100 students in Year 10 headed to the BStreetSmart excursion at Qudos Bank Arena. Along with 25 other school from NSW, students engaged in live talks, presentations and interactive displays that highlighted the importance of our students being safe at all times on the roads. Some of the content covered at the excursion will also be included in their final exam later this term.
Year 10 PASS are exploring event management and round robin tournaments in practical. These two topics link nicely and allow students to create their own events and then see them come to life in a practical lesson. This has also allowed a large portion of the students to develop skills and then implement them at local primary and zone gala days that have occurred so far this term. They have displayed a great level of maturity and leadership in this space. Well done Year 10.
Stage 6
11HMS have really found their feet in the senior space so far this term. They are learning and building knowledge around the body and mind in motion. It was excellent to see so many of the students continue their understanding from 9PASS all the way through to the senior space at Camden HS. They also have the opportunity to participate in two hands-on excursions later this term. The first being the First Aid course and the second, the PARTY program run by Campbelltown hospital. Both will provide a variety of knowledge and skills that the students will be able to use later in life.
12 PDHPE are on their final run towards the HSC and Mr Garland and Ms Whitbread are doing their best to prepare students to achieve their best. On Thursday A’s students are provided with HSC style questions and have access to staff that have marked the HSC in the past. The engagement has been excellent so far. This, as well as the chance to sit a practice paper later in the term on Thursday B (wk 6), is preparing students to do their best once the HSC comes around.
Keep working hard Year 12, we are proud of you!!!
